Qorvo,^® announced it has been awarded Huawei's Best Collaboration Partner Award and Core Partner Award. The awards were accepted by Bob Bruggeworth, president and CEO of Qorvo, during a formal ceremony at Huawei's headquarters in Shenzhen, recognizing Qorvo's contribution as an outstanding supplier of RF solutions to Huawei.

Filter start-up Resonant Inc. has secured additions to the company's design backlog: three new duplexers with an existing customer and a quadplexer with a new customer, a fabless supplier of power amplifiers and switches for handset RF front-ends.

Surfing the wave of the iPhone 7 ramp, Qorvo’s Q2 fiscal 2017 revenue jumped 24 percent sequentially and 22 percent above Q2 of fiscal 2016 to $865 million. Revenue was above the company’s guidance range of $820 million to $850 million. However, poor yields on a low band power amplifier duplexer (PAD) for the iPhone 7 hurt margins: GAAP gross margin was 36.6 percent, down from 39.6 percent in Q1 and 40.2 percent in Q2 of fiscal 2016.

Akoustis Technologies Inc., a manufacturer of innovative BulkONE™ bulk acoustic wave (BAW) high-band RF filters for mobile wireless, announced today a significant performance improvement in its patented single-crystal BAW technology, which the Company believes satisfies resonator requirements to produce commercial, high-band RF filters, including 4G/LTE, Wi-Fi, emerging 5G and other wireless applications.

Akoustis Technologies, Inc. announced that Rohan Houlden has joined the company as VP of engineering. In this role, he will manage the development and qualification of high band RF BAW filter products.

Anritsu Co. introduced new software for its Radio Communications Analyzer MT8821C that creates the industry’s first test solution that supports evaluation of 4x4 MIMO 256 QAM RF Rx performance for all DL 3CC CA band combinations with no restrictions on frequency and signal bandwidth combinations. The new software provides wireless chipset and UE manufacturers, as well as mobile operators with a solution to conduct efficient, highly accurate carrier acceptance tests to ensure performance.

Releasing quarterly financial results, Apple reported strong demand for the new iPhone 7, exceeding manufacturing capacity. The company shipped 45.5 million iPhones during fiscal Q4, and company revenue was $46.9 billion. Apple's revenue guidance for the December quarter (fiscal Q1) is $76 billion to $78 billion.
