In 2012 a major milestone has been reached for the Wi-Fi market: over 5 billion Wi-Fi enabled devices have been shipped in the technologies lifetime. Recent explosive growth has been largely driven by the smartphone and laptop markets but future success will be dependent on Wi-Fi penetration into newer markets such as connected home and automotive devices.
Radio Frequency Systems (RFS), the global wireless and broadcast infrastructure specialist, announced that Transit Wireless has selected RFS products to support the architecture of its distributed antenna system (DAS) for the New York City subway system. RFS products that will be used in the project include HYBRIFLEX conduit cable, transmission line cabling with low smoke, and zero-halogen jackets and jumpers.

These high-performance, rugged, IP-67 rated antennas are provided in a slim, low profile radome of only 2.5" to 3" (63.5 to 76.2 mm) tall with a 1.5" (38.1 mm) diameter base and high gains of 4 to 5.6 dBi.
