DragonWave Inc. announced that it has implemented several structural adjustments to reflect DragonWave’s global integration plan for the recently-completed acquisition of Nokia Siemens Networks’ microwave transport business.

Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) announced the industry’s first demonstrations of the new ZigBee® Light Link standard on the CC2530 ZigBee system-on-chip (SoC). Developed by leading lighting and technology companies within the ZigBee Alliance, ZigBee Light Link standardizes wireless networked LED lighting systems making them easier to install, manage and operate than previous closed proprietary systems.

Tower mounted amplifiers have now become a common addition to most macro base station systems. They increase overall system performance and are now easily mounted and monitored. Tower mounted amplifiers can provide significant BTS performance improvement for a moderate investment. Lance Wilson, research director, mobile networks, notes, “The use of tower mounted amplifiers in wireless infrastructure base station systems represents one of the most cost effective ways of improving overall system performance.”  

DragonWave Inc. announced the closing of the acquisition of Nokia Siemens Networks’ microwave transport business including its associated operational support system (OSS) and related support functions. The acquisition was effected pursuant to the Amended and Restated Master Acquisition Agreement between DragonWave Inc., its wholly-owned subsidiary DragonWave S.à r.l. and Nokia Siemens Networks dated May 3, 2012 (the “Master Acquisition Agreement”).

Alcatel-Lucent has announced that the Smart-RF research project undertaken by a consortium of companies led by Bell Labs, Alcatel-Lucent’s research arm, achieved a major breakthrough for base station deployment. The group developed the technical foundation for a new reconfigurable radio frequency transmitter capable of supporting different wireless standards within a single radio frequency band.

CPI International Holding Corp. and its wholly owned subsidiary CPI International Inc. (CPI) announced they have entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the Codan Satcom business from Codan Ltd.

Agilent Technologies Inc. announced its Bluetooth low-energy test solution on the N4010A wireless connectivity test set was verified by Texas Instruments Inc. for use with TI’s integrated circuits in Bluetooth Smart and Smart-Ready devices. The Bluetooth low-energy Tx/Rx test capability on N4010A gives manufacturers and design houses reliable and efficient test solutions for single-mode and dual-mode devices.

Polaris Wireless announced a significant contract for a multi-million dollar deployment of the Polaris Wireless Altus and OmniLocate location surveillance product suite in the EMEA region.

Ceragon Networks Ltd. has received orders of approximately $4 million to supply microwave backhaul solutions and turnkey services including installation, project management and commissioning to the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority (NTUA). The NTUA selected Ceragon’s FibeAir^®IP-10G to power the Navajo Nation’s wireless backhaul network.
