Growth in Fronthaul Optical Transceiver Shipments Awaits 4.5/4.9/5G Pull

Shipments of fronthaul optical transceiver (OTRX) modules declined in 2016, mirroring the trend in remote radio unit (RRU) shipments, and will bottom in 2019, awaiting the growth of 4.5G, 4.9G and 5G to pull the industry into its next growth cycle, according to market analyst Earl Lum.

Wolfspeed grew revenue 30 percent year-over-year during the second quarter of fiscal 2018, to $70.6 million, which reflected strong demand for SiC devices for electric vehicles.
