Cassidian has won a bid to deliver its digital TETRA communication system for the first tram network (Hunnan Xinqu) in Shenyang, China.

Operators Polkomtel and Aero2 have chosen Ericsson to supply WCDMA and LTE infrastructure in Poland. The upgrades will allow for expanded WCDMA and LTE coverage in northern and western Poland to keep pace with rapid uptake of smartphones and increased demand for mobile broadband.

Next year, Colombia will be the first country in Latin America to go on the air with a DVB-T2 TV network and the network will use R&S THU9 high-power transmitters from Rohde & Schwarz. Recently introduced on the market, these transmitters help network operators significantly reduce their energy and infrastructure costs.

Indra has collaborated in the CRISYS project to define and propose a strategic plan for the Demo phase within the area of improving emergency coordination in the European Union. Ceragon Networks Ltd. has received orders for additional high-capacity microwave systems and services from Tele2 Russia, with the result that the company will provide high-capacity wireless backhaul in 15 of the 37 regions in Russia covered by the telecommunications operator.

NEC Corp. has launched the compact MB4300 all-in-one LTE base station system, which has been designed for a wide range of installation options in areas with limited space, such as rooftops and compact indoor spaces. This series paves the way for more cost effective installation of small cell base stations, helps boost capacity and improves overall performance.

Siklu announced that its EtherHaul millimeter-wave wireless backhaul solution performed well in a challenging trial in Mumbai, India, during the recent monsoon season. Having already established a leading position in the European E-band backhaul market, the trial, demonstrated that the company’s EtherHaul E-band systems can be effectively used in India, for last mile backhaul of mobile and business services.
