2013 DSEI: A force to be reckoned with

When the 2013 Defence & Security Equipment International (DSEI) that took place at the Excel exhibition centre in London from 10 to 13 September with claims to bring together the ‘entire’ defence and security, it is hard to argue otherwise. The biennial event attracted 1,500 international , suppliers from more than 50 countries, a larger number of international pavilions, including South Korea, Brazil, India, Australia, UK, USA and six new dedicated seminar theatres offering free educational sessions and showcases. There were specialised air, naval, land, security, medical and unmanned zones, expanded live waterborne and unmanned systems demonstrations and static vehicle displays for the land, air and naval sectors.

AEHF expands global communications for allied missions

The Netherlands has become the second Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) international partner to communicate using the Lockheed Martin-produced satellite system. During July testing, for the first time three nations used the system simultaneously as The Netherlands connected to U.S., Canadian and domestic terminals.

Silvus announces new contract under DARPA 100 Gb/s RF Backbone program

Silvus Technologies Inc. has been awarded a contract under DARPA STO’s 100 Gb/s RF Backbone (100G) program. The total dollar value of this 20 month Phase I contract is approximately $3.7 M. As a final deliverable of this Phase I contract Silvus is to demonstrate a MIMO system capable of multiplexing 8 independent streams each carrying 1 Gbps data over a line of sight wireless range above 50 km.
