When launched on 27 January 2017 Hispasat 36W-1 (AG-1) became the first satellite to use active Ku-Band antennas, which were supplied by Airbus Defence and Space.

Astronics Corp., through its wholly-owned subsidiary Astronics Test Systems, introduced two new test instruments. The new PXIe-1802 Arbitrary Waveform Generator and the new PXIe-1803 Digitizer deliver unprecedented test capabilities and measurement accuracy in a compact, robust PXI form factor for aerospace, defense, communications, and other high-reliability applications.   

As part of the FLORAKO programme modernisation, armasuisse has awarded Thales a contract to upgrade the Master radars for the Swiss Air Force. This contract, which amounts to 74 million euros, will be the main order within the broader FLORAKO radars life extension project approved by the Swiss government in 2016, is intended to extend the lifespan of the radars and to ensure operational excellence until 2030.

The U.S. Navy awarded Raytheon Co. $235 million for Standard Missile-6 all-up round production missiles and spares. Raytheon will begin delivery in 2018. The missiles will be deployed on Aegis cruisers and destroyers to support U.S. Navy fleet operations. The award funds the fourth year of full-rate production for the multi-mission missile, which recently accomplished significant testing milestones and achievements.

Phasor and Thales Alenia Space (TAS) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the development of a software-defined, smart terminal for commercial Ka satellite communications.

Phonon Corp. has received an $7.2M order from a leading defense prime contractor for Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) radar pulse compression modules, for 2017 and 2018 delivery, for an air defense system.

The AUDS counter-UAS defence system – field proven to detect, track and defeat malicious and errant unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) or drones – is the first fully integrated system worldwide to achieve TRL-9 status. This follows the successful mission deployment of the AUDS system with United States Forces.

Mercury Systems Inc. announced it received a $2.4 million follow-on order from a leading defense prime contractor to supply frequency conversion modules for an Electronic Warfare (EW) service life extension program. The order was booked in the company’s fiscal 2017 second quarter and is expected to be shipped over the next several quarters.

Qorvo® has earned continued Trusted Source Category 1A accreditation through 2018 from the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). The company is one of only five accredited suppliers for both gallium nitride (GaN) and gallium arsenide (GaAs).
