Raytheon Co. delivered its eighth AN/TPY-2 radar to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) in support of the U.S. combatant commands. An integral capability of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS), AN/TPY-2 is a mobile, X-band phased-array radar that helps protect the U.S., deployed forces, and America's friends and allies by searching, acquiring and tracking threat ballistic missiles and discriminating between threats and non-threats.

Tektronix Inc. announced that lab testing has shown that its next generation performance oscilloscopes - due for availability in 2014 - will deliver real-time bandwidth of 70 GHz, with significant upside potential. ABI Research reports that Broadcom has put into production one of the world’s smallest multimode (GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS) transceivers. The sub 7 sq. mm. 40nm RF chip (BCM2193) was revealed just one week after the discovery of the 40nm RF chip announced last week. Broadcom’s chip was discovered second but it may actually have hit production a week or two prior to the Mediatek solution.
