The spending on Long-Term Evolution (LTE) base stations will hit US$ 12.3 billion in 2013 as countries around the world join the high-speed club. Membership is not exclusive to the developed economies as emerging markets close the digital divide by aggressive network roll-out. Some of these emerging market LTE deployments are government-sponsored initiatives as in Rwanda while others are private ventures as in Sri Lanka.

With the recent introduction of its new light weight, battery powered, 2 x 20W iPA PIM Analyzer, Kaelus is offering a trade-in program for customers wanting to replace their existing portable test instruments with the newest Kaelus PIM test equipment available.

Northrop Grumman Corp. will provide 48 more self-deploying, monopole JIB antennas for Global Positioning System (GPS III) satellites under a follow-on contract from Lockheed Martin Corp.. The work will be carried out by Astro Aerospace, a strategic business unit of Northrop Grumman.

The addition of the Bird 5017 and support for other Bird power sensors allows the 3550 to improve measurement accuracies for in field test applications.

A team of astronomers has used the new ALMA (Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array) telescope to pinpoint the locations of over 100 of the most fertile star-forming galaxies in the early Universe. ALMA is so powerful that, in just a few hours, it captured as many observations of these galaxies as have been made by all similar telescopes worldwide over a span of more than a decade.

ITT Exelis has received a contract from Raytheon Co. to supply anti-jam GPS antennas to the KC-46 refueling tanker program. Work on this contract will be performed in Bohemia, N.Y.
