New initiatives for NEC in Africa

In order to expand and develop its operations in Africa NEC Corporation will establish branch offices in Nairobi, Kenya and in Lagos, Nigeria. The company has also appointed Masahiro Yoshikawa as President of NEC Africa (Pty) Ltd, which is a 100 percent subsidiary of NEC Europe Ltd, the regional headquarters in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

ip.access signs Middle East distribution agreement with E-Pay International

ip.access has signed a distribution agreement with E-Pay International, whereby the company will be able to specify, supply and install the range of ip.access small cell solutions to its operator customers in the Middle East. The agreement covers the full range of ip.access 2G and 3G solutions for the home, office and public small cell deployments, along with the company’s supporting network management tools.

Global handset shipments reach 1.6 billion units in 2011

According to the latest research from Strategy Analytics, global handset shipments grew 11 percent annually to reach 445 million units in the fourth quarter of 2011. Apple was the star performer, capturing a record 8 percent market share worldwide during the quarter. Full-year handset shipments reached 1.6 billion units globally in 2011, with annual growth of 14 percent.
