Fairview Microwave Inc. has introduced a new line of calibrated noise sources most commonly used as a precision reference source to measure system level noise figure. Specific applications may involve increasing the dynamic range of analog-to-digital converters (ADC) by dithering and reducing correlated noise, system and component wireless testing, signal simulation, evaluating analog and DOCSYS CATV systems and simulation of RF jamming systems for missile guidance.

MACOM Announces STMicroelectronics as GaN on Si Manufacturing Partner

MACOM and STMicroelectronics (ST) are teamed to commercialize MACOM’s RF GaN on Si technology, with ST becoming a second source and adding capacity to MACOM’s GaN fab in Lowell, Massachusetts. A formal agreement between the two companies gives MACOM exclusive rights to use its technology for mobile phone, wireless base station and commercial telecommunications infrastructure applications and ST a license to use the technology for RF power applications, such as solid-state cooking, automotive spark plugs and industrial lighting.
