Coilcraft has launched an all-new Power Inductor Finder web tool that allows users to quickly find and compare inductors based on their exact operating conditions: current, ripple, frequency and ambient temperature. Combining elements of several other popular tools on the site, the new Power Inductor Finder instantly calculates core and winding losses, computes temperature rise, and plots L vs. I curves for up to six parts on the same graph.

The 2014 Mobile World Congress that was held from 24 to 27 February in Barcelona is billed as an industry-defining event; though the pace at which the mobile telecommunications industry continues to evolve makes the accurate definition and prediction of trends and especially their timescale for implementation a difficult task. Freescale Semiconductor, a global leader in radio frequency (RF) power transistors, announced the availability of 11 new commercial RF power LDMOS products that can meet the requirements of U.S. defense  electronics applications. This is the first set of products released as part of the company’s strategic defense initiatives for its RF power business, announced in June 2013.

Linear Technology Corp. announces the LT8309, a flyback secondary-side synchronous rectifier driver that replaces the output diode with a MOSFET, allowing up to 10A output current without the use of a heat sink. The maximum output current of a flyback power supply has been limited by the power loss and heat generated from the output diode when no heat sink is used.
