Wireless equipment vendors performed well in the fourth quarter of 2011. While finishing strong in the last quarter of every calendar year is typical for vendors in this market, Huawei exceeded expectations and overcame Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) to grab second place in the market. Analog Devices Inc. announced that it has acquired Multigig Inc., a small, privately-held San Jose, California, company specializing in highly innovative high-performance clocking technology. Agilent Technologies Inc. announced the availability of a wideband MIMO PXI vector signal analyzer that delivers the industry’s highest-bandwidth signal analysis. The new analyzer enables R&D and test engineers to validate their MIMO 802.11ac designs with a unique combination of accuracy, speed, bandwidth and scalability in a small form factor.

The four Eurofighter nations have awarded industry contracts worth about 2 billion euros ($2.7 billion) to support the Typhoon fighter over the next five years.
