Comtech Receives Order for Satellite Communications Equipment

November 13, 2006

Comtech Telecommunications Corp. announced that its Tempe, Arizona-based subsidiary, Comtech EF Data Corp., received a $2.8 M order from a leading communications integrator for its turboIP® performance enhancement proxy. The units will be deployed to support US Government installations around the world.

Comtech EF Data's turboIP performance enhancement proxy combats the inherent challenges of transmitting Internet transmission control protocol (TCP) over satellite links, which typically exhibit high latency and bit error rates. Unlike older proprietary solutions, Comtech's turboIP is an international standards-based product that supports the new Space Communications Protocol Standard (SCPS) Transport Protocol (SCPS-TP) for transparent acceleration of TCP sessions over satellite links. TurboIP provides superior performance and reliable end-to-end data transfer for Internet user applications over satellite links.

"This order is another example of Comtech's ability to supply equipment to support mission-critical satellite communications," said Fred Kornberg, president and chief executive officer of Comtech Telecommunications Corp.
