One-Step Plasma Masking Tape: DeWAL DW 500

April 30, 2018

Rogers Corporation (NYSE:ROG) is pleased to re-introduce DeWAL® DW 500, engineered to provide outstanding masking protection for mission-critical applications. Offering superior resistance to extreme temperatures and the rigors of grit blasting, the silicone rubber-impregnated glass fabric tape is designed for maximum protective masking during plasma and flame spraying of aircraft engine components and turbo charger wear components.

DeWAL DW 500 is a one-step plasma masking tape constructed of a silicone rubber with glass cloth backing coated with an aggressive, high-temperature silicone adhesive. It will withstand the challenges of grit blast and plasma spray while protecting parts from overspray and splash. Addressing customer demands for the highest reliability, DeWAL DW 500 tape is engineered to adhere aggressively, while allowing easy conformability to the most complex shapes and ensuring sharp edges while leaving minimal residue upon removal.

The re-introduction further expands Rogers’ DeWAL portfolio of high-performance polymer films and pressure-sensitive tapes. With the industry’s most complete line of thermal spray tapes, DeWAL brand products are qualified by many aircraft engine and automotive manufacturers. The tapes are free of carbonizing materials and form a protective mask for metal or ceramic plasma spraying, arc spraying, high-velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) and grit blasting.

Christopher Brooks, Senior Product Line Manager for Films and Tapes at Rogers Corporation states, “We’re proud to have DeWAL DW 500 in our portfolio of thermal spray tape solutions. Combining robust temperature resistance, superior adhesion, and clean removal, DeWAL DW 500 tape addresses customer demand for a superior protective masking tape for aircraft engines and other mission-critical applications.”
