Rohde & Schwarz Launches Entry Class R&S FPC1000 Spectrum Analyzer

March 14, 2017

Rohde & Schwarz has introduced the R&S FPC1000, a new entry class spectrum analyzer, which features a flexible keycode upgrade concept, solid RF performance, and a large,  high-resolution display as well as integrated Wi-Fi for wireless remote control via mobile apps.

The base model of the R&S FPC1000 covers a frequency range from 5 kHz to 1 GHz, which can be expanded to 2 GHz or 3 GHz via software upgrades –a new feature in this instrument class. Upgrades can be purchased as needed and are available as soon as the keycode is entered and recalibration is not required.

A critical characteristic when measuring extremely weak signals is high sensitivity. The R&S FPC1000 provides a low noise floor level of -150 dBm (typical), which can be further extended to -165 dBm (typical) with an optional, keycode-activated preamplifier. Its high maximum input power allows users to measure RF signals up to +30 dBm (1 W). The combination of low noise floor and high maximum input power results in an exceptionally wide measurement dynamic range.

The new spectrum analyzer is claimed to offer the best measurement resolution in its class with 1 Hz RBW and a 10.1" (26 cm) display that is 26 percent larger with a 2.6 times higher display resolution. This high measurement and display resolution allows signals to be measured in razor-sharp detail.

Virtual control enables easy remote control and measurement. The R&S FPC1000 supports optional Wi-Fi connectivity in addition to wired Ethernet. With R&S InstrumentView for Microsoft © Windows and the iOS/Android App based R&S MobileView platforms, measurements can be performed anywhere, anytime.

Rohde & Schwarz will be demonstrating the R&S FPC1000 to the public for the first time at the embedded world 2017 international trade fair in Nuremberg, Germany, from March 14 to 16, 2017.
