Advantech Wireless releases new Sapphire Series 2,500 W Ku-Band GaN SSPA/BUC

May 22, 2013

Advantech Wireless Inc., a global wireless solutions provider, for satellite, RF equipment, microwave troposcatter and point-to-point systems, announced the release of the new Sapphire Series 2,500W Ku-Band UltraLinear™ GaN SSPA/BUC, modular design with built in redundancy.

Able to cover simultaneously all transponders of a specific satellite, the new Sapphire Class of High Performance UltraLinear GaN technology based solid state power amplifiers (SSPAs) and BUCs exceed all barriers between Klystrons, TWTs and SSPAs.

“Our customers realize great savings in energy cost, CAPEX and OPEX” states Cristi Damian, VP product line management and business development at Advantech Wireless. “Combined with Advantech Wireless’ high performance line of Satcom Antennas, these new systems are the only worldwide solution able to offer the maximum use of satellite bandwidth and power”.

Backed by over 25 years of Outdoor SSPA design and manufacturing and combined with the traditional Advantech Wireless features the new Sapphire Class of UltraLinear GaN technology based SSPAs and BUCs is designed for Multi Carrier operations and can save 8 to 15 dB power compared to indoor Klystrons or linearized TWTs.

The considerable reduction in size, weight, and energy consumption achieved with the New UltraLinear GaN based SSPAs and BUCs from Advantech Wireless makes this new architecture the ultimate solution for direct to home TV.
