Comtech Xicom Technology introduces 750 W peak power high efficiency HPA

March 8, 2012

Comtech Xicom Technology Inc. introduced a new high efficiency, 750 W peak power, Ku-band traveling wave tube amplifier (TWTA) with the size, weight and prime-power consumption of standard 400 Watt amplifiers.

Xicom Technology’s model XTD-750KHE high power amplifier (HPA) is an antenna mountable TWTA designed for high linear power and outstandingly high efficiency for Ku-Band SATCOM uplinks. The new amplifier is in a compact, rugged package weighing only 56 pounds. Drawing only 1450 W at 270 W of linear RF output power, the amplifier is ideal for transportable applications where high efficiency, light weight, and high ambient temperature operation are required.

"We are extremely proud to introduce another member of our high efficiency TWTA family.  Our new HPA delivers 750 W peak power performance in an amplifier that is significantly smaller and lighter than ever before. No other product in the marketplace offers this level of linear power in such a lightweight package.” Said John Branscum, president of Comtech Xicom Technology, Inc. “As customers demand higher performance from existing systems or lower power consumption for future SATCOM designs, they continuously turn to Comtech Xicom Technology where we are dedicated to breaking new ground on TWTA and SSPA efficiency and performance.”
