New Sub-Harmonic Upconverter HMC711LC5

January 17, 2011

High Performance GaAs MMIC Upconverter Covers 17.7 to 23.6 GHz. New Sub-Harmonic Upconverter Features High Conversion Gain and Wide IF Bandwidth.

Hittite Microwave Corporation, the world class supplier of complete MMIC based solutions for communication & military markets, has introduced a new SMT packaged GaAs MMIC Sub-Harmonic Upconverter which is ideal for point-to-point radio, satellite communications, test & measurement, sensors, military radar, EW and ELINT applications from 17.7 to 23.6 GHz.

The HMC711LC5 is a GaAs MMIC Sub-Harmonic upconverter which delivers a small signal conversion gain of 15 dB and wide IF bandwidth of DC to 3.5 GHz. The HMC711LC5 utilizes a double-balanced mixer which is driven by an active x2 multiplier and followed by a high linearity amplifier.

This compact upconverter accepts LO input frequencies from 9.5 to 13.6 GHz, and LO power levels as low as 0 dBm, allowing it to be driven directly from a synthesizer output. The HMC711LC5 also exhibits +28 dBm output IP3 and +17 dBm output P1dB, and operates from a single +5 V supply. This high linearity converter is a much smaller alternative to hybrid style subharmonic upconverter assemblies and it eliminates the need for wire bonding by allowing the use of surface mount manufacturing techniques.

The HMC711LC5 is housed in a leadless RoHS compliant QFN 5 x 5 mm SMT ceramic package, and is specified for operation from -40 °C to +85 °C.

Samples and evaluation PC boards for all SMT packaged products are available from stock and can be ordered via the company's e-commerce site or via direct purchase order. Released data sheets are available at our website by clicking the link below our logo on this page.
