Hittite Microwave Corporation, the world class supplier of complete MMIC based solutions for communication & military markets, has expanded its Power Detector product line to include a new Wideband Logarithmic Detector which is ideal for a wide range of applications including point-to-point microwave radio, VSAT, test & measurement, Receiver Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) and general wideband power monitoring from 8 to 30 GHz.
The HMC662LP3E is a Wideband Logarithmic Detector which is specified from 8 to 30 GHz, and converts RF signals at its input, to a proportional DC voltage at its output. The HMC662LP3E employs successive compression topology which delivers high dynamic range over a wide input frequency range.
The HMC662LP3E provides a ± 3 dB dynamic range of more than 50 dB up to 30 GHz, and the logarithmic error over the -40 to +85C temperature range is less than ± 1 dB up to 18 GHz. Optimized as a logarithmic detector for high volume microwave radio and VSAT applications, the HMC662LP3E provides a nominal logarithmic slope of +13 mV/dB, and an intercept of -127 dBm at 18 GHz, while exhibiting excellent temperature stability. Rise and fall times are 5 and 10 ns respectively, which is ideal for the acquisition of wideband signals with fast edges. For power sensitive applications, the HMC662LP3E provides a power down mode, where the supply current is reduced to 3 mA.
Operating from a single +3.3V supply, this versatile Wideband Logarithmic Detector is specified for operation from -40°C to +85°C, and is supplied in a compact 3x3 mm RoHS compliant SMT plastic package.
