New High Frequency MMIC VCOs Feature Dual Outputs. High Output Power and Low Phase Noise VCOs for X & Ku Band Applications!

Chelmsford, Ma, 4/01/2009 – Hittite Microwave Corporation, the world class supplier of complete MMIC based solutions for communication & military markets, has released four new SMT MMIC VCO products which provide low phase noise and high output power for point-to-point, industrial, VSAT, military and test equipment applications up to 15.5 GHz.

The HMC734LP5(E) and HMC735LP5(E) are GaAs HBT MMIC VCOs which provide fundamental output frequencies from 8.6 to 10.2 GHz, and 10.5 to 12.2 GHz respectively. These compact VCOs deliver output power up to +18 dBm, single side band (SSB) phase noise as low as -100 dBc/Hz, and an integrated divide-by-4 prescaler output, which can be disabled to conserve power, when not required. The HMC734LP5(E) and HMC735LP5(E) VCOs accept tuning voltages from 1V to 13V, and are housed in footprint compatible 5x5 mm RoHS compliant SMT packages.

The HMC736LP4(E) and HMC737LP4(E) GaAs HBT MMIC VCOs provide fundamental output frequencies from 14.5 to 15.0 GHz, and 14.9 to 15.5 GHz respectively. These compact VCOs deliver up to +9 dBm fundamental output power with single side band (SSB) phase noise as low as -105 dBc/Hz. These dual output VCOs also provide a half frequency (RF/2) output with -3dBm output power. The HMC736LP4(E) and HMC737LP4(E) VCOs accept tuning voltages from 1V to 13V, and are housed in footprint compatible 4x4 mm RoHS compliant SMT packages.

As with similar products in Hittite’s VCO family, the HMC734LP5(E), HMC735LP5(E), HMC736LP4(E) and the HMC737LP4(E) integrate resonators, negative resistance devices, and varactor diodes, and exhibit excellent phase noise performance over temperature and shock, due to the oscillator’s monolithic structure. These low noise VCOs can be combined with Hittite’s HMC700LP4(E) PLL IC, to create state-of-the-art synthesizers and phase locked oscillators (PLOs), which in turn can be used to drive the LO ports of many of Hittite’s double-balanced mixers, image reject mixers, and I/Q receiver products.

Samples and evaluation PC boards for all SMT packaged products are available from stock and can be ordered via the company’s e-commerce site or via direct purchase order. Released data sheets are available on-line at www.hittite.com.
