MTS2500DS synthesizer series

January 17, 2011
SYNERGY MICROWAVE CORPORATION is setting a new standard for miniature synthesizers with a resolution of 1 Hz and outstanding phase noise and excellent spurious suppression with it’s newly introduced MTS2500DS synthesizer series. The first model introduced, the MTS2500-110250 covers the frequency range from 1100 to 2500 MHz. It is available in 4 versions, version one and two have 5V and 3.3V supply only and use an external reference of 10 MHz or 1.6 GHz respectively, the other two versions require 28V, 5V and 3.3V supply voltage and use either 10 MHz or 1.6 GHz references.

Housed in a small 1.95”x1.25” surface mount Rel-Pro® package their features and performance match the one of much larger size synthesizers. Typical phase noise at 1.1GHz is –90 dBc at 10 kHz offset and –112 dBc at 100 kHz offset from the carrier. The standard model has a guaranteed lock time of <20 msec but models with lock times down to <2 msec can be custom designed. Spurious suppression is typically in the 90dBc range with a guaranteed suppression of 70 dBc for the worst case spurious.

Controlling the synthesizer is made easy with SMC’s standardized control interface via a standard 3.3 V SPI port.

This synthesizer series is based on Synergy Microwave Corporations series of high performance and ultra-wideband VCO’s that allows fast redesign on any frequency range where a VCO is available and allows coverage of more than octave bands from 100 MHz to 6 GHz.

These features make the MTS2500 the ideal solution for all systems where fine step size resolution with excellent phase noise and spurious performance in a miniature size is required.
