RFMD SELECTS DIRECTOR OF CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS

GREENSBORO, NC, NOVEMBER 28, 2006 – RF Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:RFMD), a global leader in the design and manufacture of high-performance radio systems and solutions for applications that drive mobile communications, today announced the hiring of Jack Hopkins as the Director of Corporate Communications. Hopkins has wide-ranging experience in academia and global business activities, including the introduction and marketing of millions of units of products such as cellular phones, pagers, chips and consumer electronics. In this newly created position, Hopkins will report to Jerry Neal, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Development, and lead RFMD’s marketing and communications efforts alongside veteran Communications Manager Irma Swain. “We are thrilled to have Jack as a part of our team,” said Jerry Neal. “His expertise in marketing and communications will strengthen RFMD’s brand identity globally to further position the company as a definitive leader in mobile communications solutions.” “RFMD is a company renowned for providing its customers innovative products,” said Hopkins. “I’m excited to be a part of RFMD’s marketing efforts in promoting its market-leading components and solutions that enable worldwide mobility.” Before joining RFMD in October, Hopkins served as Director of Marketing & Communications at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. At Tufts University, he established an integrated brand communications strategy for the Graduate School of International Affairs and managed all advertising, market research, web marketing, corporate communications and public relations programs. Prior to his work at Tufts University, he served as Marketing Instructor at California State University – East Bay where he taught marketing and international business classes. In 2004, he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and was selected to teach e-business and marketing in Copenhagen, Denmark. Hopkins has held several senior level wireless communications management positions with Fortune 50 companies such as Motorola and Nokia. As Director of Marketing at Nokia, he helped the company become number one in the US cellular market by growing US sales exponentially over three years. Additionally, he created the marketing program in conjunction with ABC Sports that secured Nokia as the title sponsor of the Sugar Bowl. Hopkins also developed unique phones for many independent and Regional Bell Operating Companies (RBOC), and worked on the marketing team that introduced Motorola’s “flip” phone. Hopkins holds a BA and MA in Government and International Relations from the University of Notre Dame and has an MBA in International Marketing from the University of Rhode Island.
