Agilent Technologies Signs Expanded Agreement with Peregrine Semiconductor to Provide RFIC Design Tools

September 18, 2006
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 18, 2006 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced a multi-year, multi-site agreement in which Peregrine Semiconductor has expanded its investment in Agilent Technologies' RFIC design tools, designed to boost productivity and production yields. "Our designers rely heavily on Agilent's EDA tools for their success," said John Sung, director of CAD engineering at Peregrine. "Agilent's breadth and depth of simulator technology, foundry PDK compatibility and post-processing design capabilities provide our engineers with unmatched productivity and the ability to achieve high production yields. We can run simulations, optimize designs and characterize their performance in ways that simply were not possible without these tools." Peregrine has been using a range of Agilent's RFIC tools, including Agilent's Advanced Design System (ADS) Dynamic Link and RF Design Environment (RFDE) circuit simulation tools, Ptolemy system design simulator, wireless test benches, and electromagnetic simulation tools to successfully tape out advanced RFIC designs such as RF Digital Step Attenuators, PLL Frequency Synthesizers, Passive Mixers and Prescalers. "We are pleased that Peregrine Semiconductor has chosen to expand the usage of Agilent's industry-leading RFIC EDA solutions, and we look forward to a continued long-term relationship," said Chris Mueth, design flow manager with Agilent's EEsof EDA division. "We are excited about our core investment in RF EDA technology. Coupled with our recent acquisition of Xpedion Design Systems, this investment will help make RFIC design more efficient and predictive, resulting in decreased design spins, increased manufacturability and decreased overall risk."
