Gowanda to Introduce Ultra-broadband Conical Inductors

May 17, 2011

Gowanda Electronics, a designer and manufacturer of precision electronic components for RF and power applications, is launching its inaugural line of ultra-broadband conical inductors at IMS 2011 (Booth 730). Gowanda’s introduction of its “C” conical series is in response to market demand for more standard and custom broadband conical design options for communication applications. This new product line leverages Gowanda’s proprietary production processes, extensive design experience, and custom capability expertise to deliver high performance, cost-effective, standard and custom broadband solutions.

Gowanda’s new broadband product line offers standard thru-hole, flying lead (self-leaded) and surface mount (SMT) designs in a variety of sizes with up to 150 watt power capability, excellent co-planarity, and robust construction. Typical operation is from 40 MHz to 40 GHz. RoHS, leaded or gold plating terminations are available. Operating temperature is -55°C to +155°C. SMT products are available on tape and reel.

The company’s custom capabilities have been enhanced to provide broadband conicals with application-specific core configurations, electrical parameters, footprints, frequencies, wattage and wiring options (copper, gold plate, specialty). The conicals’ 3-in-1 design (replacing 3 inductors with 1 conical) reduces the number of components, thereby saving precious board space and enhancing performance. The conicals also provide a predictable frequency response and repeatable RF performance. The unique broadband response of the coil is attributed to its precision winding, wire selection and coil configuration.

Specific communication applications for Gowanda’s conicals include bias T’s (filter signals, remove noise), broadband chip manufacturing, communication platforms, high frequency, microwave circuitry, RF test set-ups, test & measurement, test gear, test instrumentation, and transmission amplifiers.
