A.T. Wall Announces Expanded Cutting Capabilities

High precision automatic circular saw ideal for lighter materials and extruded forms

February 25, 2011

A.T. Wall has expanded its cutting capabilities by adding a Bimax TA91 automatic circular sawing machine to its already diverse group of cutting equipment. The new saw, manufactured by Swiss-based Kurt Müller AG, is capable of cutting a wide range of alloys in a variety of shapes and sizes. The equipment has a capacity of up to 3.2 inches and can hold cut tolerance to .0008 inches, with cutting cycles ranging from 10 seconds.

The high-precision Bimax TA91 offers pneumatic operation that is ideal for lighter materials and extruded forms. The saw offers extremely high quality cutoff accuracy, with few burrs and excellent surface grinding quality, reducing or eliminating the need for secondary machining operations. A.T. Wall expects to use the new saw for a variety of applications, primarily to produce frames for hybrid packages used in the semiconductor industry.

“The purchase of the new saw was driven by customer demand for reduced lead times. Cutting these products in house can reduce lead times by two to four weeks,” said Donna Parker, A.T. Wall’s director of sales.

The new Bimax TA91 saw is an addition to the Wire EDM, Savage Abrasive, Eisele and Everite EDM cutting equipment already in use at the Warwick, RI, facility, and increases both capabilities and capacity.
