Ted Rappaport, founding director of NYU WIRELESS and a leading proponent of using the millimeter wave spectrum for wireless communications, discusses the FCC's recent rulemaking actions and technology developments that are paving the way to 5G.
Spectrum's M4x series of PXIe Arbitrary Waveform Generators (AWGs) offer a cost effective solution for automated testing applications that require fast and accurate electronic signal generation. Based on the modular PXIe instrumentation standard, the M4x series includes five new modules that provide one, two or four channels.
The K707 Digital Receiver from Innovative Integration supports two FMC-310 plug-in modules providing up to 6 antenna inputs, 128 independent channels of DDC, and one spectrum analyzer embedded in a Xilinx Kintex-7 FPGA. It supports monitoring and/or recording of wide- or narrow-band spectra or channelized IF band data. The receiver supports contiguous recording at 1,300 MByte/s to four SSDs until running out of disk space.
TE Connectivity Ltd., a world leader in connectivity and sensors, announced that its new Raychem high-speed data transmission cables for IEEE 1394 applications. Designed for use with military ground, military and commercial aerospace and marine systems, the ruggedized cable helps block out excess noise in harsh environments to enable dependable signal integrity in extreme conditions.
Horizon House Publications announces the launch of Signal Integrity Journal, a sister publication to Microwave Journal, covering signal integrity, power integrity and EMC/EMI related topics. Signal Integrity Journal will be the first peer reviewed, industry journal to cover these markets. Signal Integrity Journal is initially launching as a website, www.signalintegrityjournal.com, and plans to start publication of the periodical journal in 2017. The website is now available as a beta version with content being added quickly for full release shortly.
Rohde & Schwarz has successfully demonstrated the generation and analysis of 5G signals based on the characteristics as specified in the Verizon open trial specifications. The R&S SMW200A vector signal generator and the R&S FSW signal and spectrum analyzer both provide outstanding test and measurement capabilities, resulting in an EVM performance of 1 percent when applying these 5G signals.
Anritsu Co., a founding member of the Open Lab Alliance (OLA), announces its Signal Analyzer MS2692A DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communications) test solution has now been added to the portfolio of products offered at the CETECOM OLA Lab in Milpitas, Calif. The integration of the MS2692A enhances the test capability of the OLA laboratory, which has been established to accelerate the development of connected vehicle and autonomous vehicle technologies with a major focus on the DSRC V2X (vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure) technology.
Rohde & Schwarz follows the call to London to attend European Microwave Week, where the company will demonstrate its T&M highlights for demanding applications in the aerospace & defense, automotive and wireless industries. In focus: test solutions for satellite communications, for radar applications in the A&D and automotive sectors and for the next generation of mobile networks 5G.
Keysight Technologies will to demonstrate the its latest RF/uW, signal/power integrity, high-speed digital design solutions at EDI CON USA 2016, taking place Sept. 20-22 at the Hynes Convention Center, Boston, Mass.
