Forward Concepts has announced the publication of its newest in-depth annual study of the worldwide cellular handset and tablet market and virtually all of the chips that go into them. The extensive (654-page) study, “Cellular Handset & Tablet Chip Markets '12,” gauges the performance of the top 30 handset vendors, cellular-enabled tablet vendors and ranks their 2011 annual growths and market shares.

The GNSS IC market is showing steady revenue growth in 2012, with the industry now setting its sights on the next major milestone: $3 Billion.

As of 28 December, HUBER+SUHNER acquired the assets of Astrolab Inc. based in Warren, New Jersey at a non-disclosed price. The deal will be financed from own resources. With its patented minibend® and microbend® cable assemblies, Astrolab is mainly active in high tech niche markets like space & defence and offers high end radio frequency solutions for industrial markets. This year Astrolab recorded net sales of around USD $20 million and a profit margin well above industry average.
