The OpenET Alliance, the industry association that promotes energy efficient wireless transmission through Envelope Tracking (ET), has announced its first wave of members, and the release of an updated interface specification for cellular terminals.

Antenova Ltd. has released a LTE Antenna Reference Design for Smartphones which covers the global LTE bands. The company’s extremely wideband and efficient antenna design is claimed to overcome the difficulty of covering all the LTE frequency bands without the use of switches or tunable active components, resulting in a lower cost LTE MIMO antenna system for smartphones.
Huawei has been selected by Portuguese mobile operator Optimus to provide UMTS/LTE multi-frequency antennas for its LTE commercial network. The commercialization of Huawei's antennas in Portugal extends the current mobile network portfolio and will boost the overall prosperity of the European LTE market.
Operators Polkomtel and Aero2 have chosen Ericsson to supply WCDMA and LTE infrastructure in Poland. The upgrades will allow for expanded WCDMA and LTE coverage in northern and western Poland to keep pace with rapid uptake of smartphones and increased demand for mobile broadband.
ip.access has shipped an LTE-only version of its new E-100 dual mode access point to five customers for laboratory and field trials. This is an important staging point in the process of moving towards full commercial deployments and represents the company’s first LTE product shipments.
EB, Elektrobit Corp. has introduced the EB Propsim FS8 radio channel emulator for testing the wireless performance of mobile devices and chipsets. The FS8 is a compact MIMO emulator for testing 2G, 3G and 4G LTE technologies.
