Rancore Technologies Ltd. has selected picoChip’s wireless baseband technology for the development of 4G base stations for rollout in India’s next-generation networks. The company uses picoChip’s picoArray PC203 multi-core digital signal processor, which delivers the performance needed in demanding applications such as carrier-class wireless infrastructure for WiMAX and LTE.

4G is being deployed to deliver the quality of service and data speed requirements demanded by new wireless broadband applications and services. This technology will deliver broadband to the vast number of people in rural areas across India who are not currently served by fixed-line broadband connections.

“It is a privilege to be a part of this market leading and highly significant project,” said Nigel Toon, CEO of picoChip. “4G development is proceeding at an advanced pace in India, one of the world’s most dynamic mobile markets. A number of technological breakthroughs and launches are on the horizon and Rancore is very much at the heart of these exciting developments.”

“The partnership with picoChip brings us significant value in the design and development of 4G base stations,” said PK Bhatnagar, Managing Director, Rancore Technologies. “The processing power and capabilities of the picoArray, combined with picoChip’s expertise and support, have allowed us to meet an accelerated development timeline.”
