Orbit Technologies Ltd., a supplier of satellite communications, tracking antennas and audio inter-communication management systems, has received additional orders from large satellite communications companies in Brazil for its OrSat satellite communications systems, to be installed on offshore Oil and Gas platforms. These latest additions bring the total worth of the orders that Orbit has received from the Brazilian oil and gas industry to $2.6 M.

According to Israel Adan, Executive VP Marketing and Sales of Orbit, “The oil and gas industry depends on reliable broadband communications for its infrastructure, which connects deep sea marine platforms and land centers via data, audio and video networks. This demand boosts the purchase of marine satellite communications systems for platforms which service and handle exploration and drilling activities, transferring data, including Internet, pictures, and video, to their back-office for analysis and processing.

“Any interruption in this communication can cause significant financial losses to the operator. The market for marine satellite communications platforms for the oil and gas industry is rapidly expanding and is driving the growth of Orbit’s marine satcom business. The most recent orders reflect our strategy of expanding our activities in the marine communications market in general and in the area of oil and gas in particular.”

Among the systems ordered from Orbit for Brazil are various types of Ku-band marine VSAT systems, including the OrSat, that meet the stringent Brazilian regulatory requirements for satellite communications (ANATEL). These systems are characterized by a high level of reliability, survivability, and what is claimed to be the highest technical performance available for this type of product, enabling high-speed transmission (broadband) in even the most challenging marine and weather conditions.
