The UK’s Cranfield University’s Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) office has secured over £100,000 to offer expertise in the development of cost-effective microwave products found in radars, radios and specialist medical and test equipment. The two-year project will see the University’s Manufacturing Department within the School of Applied Sciences, and microwave experts from Cranfield Defence and Security, working closely with Specialist Microwave Solutions Ltd (SMS).
SMS Ltd., an independent company based on Cranfield’s Technology Park, designs, manufactures and repairs microwave components, assemblies and sub-systems for the aerospace and defence, industrial and test equipment markets.
Cranfield University has strong expertise in microwave engineering, design optimization, cost engineering and value engineering across industry sectors, having successfully conducted a number of projects in these areas. The KTP programme will allow the company to expand its capabilities through expertise transfer and the development of state-of-the-art microwave oscillators and synthesizers.
