e2v technologies, the developer and manufacturer of specialised components and subsystems, has received new orders from BAE Systems for the supply of electron devices and microwave subsystems. The first, worth £2.2 M, is for the supply of radar components and subsystems for the radar platform on the Seawolf air defence system.
Further orders, worth $3.9 M, have been made under a contract, signed in 2008, where e2v is the prime supplier of electron devices to BAE Systems against their contract with the US DoD for the Integrated Defensive Electronic Countermeasures (IDECM) Radio Frequency Countermeasures (RFCM) AN/ALE-55(V) fiber optic towed decoy system, for use on the US Navy F/A-18E/F aircraft.
e2v’s electron devices deliver the RF power used by the AN/ALE-55(V) towed decoy, which, when deployed, is towed behind an aircraft, protecting it against RF-guided missiles. These latest orders under the contract are for the low rate initial production stages. Following a one to two year ramp up to full production rates, subsequent order releases against the contract will be in the order of £4 M per annum, anticipated to be delivered over a 17-year period.
