AVX Corp., a manufacturer of advanced passive components and interconnect solutions, has expanded its SMD temperature compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) series to include AEC-Q200 approved versions. Designated the KT3225 and KT2520 Wide Temperature Series, the ultra-miniature oscillators provide tight frequency stability of ±0.5 ppm over a wide temperature range of -40° to +85°C. For more demanding applications such as power amplifiers, the KT3225 and KT2520 Series can provide a frequency stability of +/-3.0 ppm over -40° to +105°C.

"AVX Kyocera is the largest supplier of temperature compensated crystal oscillator products. These new devices have a superior temperature slope and drift performance thanks to our patent-protected technologies," said Bob Azuma, Product Marketing Manager for Kyocera Electronic Devices. "Due to advanced IC and crystal optimization, the new temperature compensated crystal oscillators achieve a lower cost than traditional TCXOs for this temperature range."

Targeted at applications including automotive GPS systems, GPS modules, marine navigation equipment and high-end industrial electronics, the KT3225 and KT2520 Wide Temperature Series TCXOs are available to AEC-Q200 specifications upon request.

The KT3225 measures just 3.2 x 2.5 x 1.0 mm, while the KT2520 is only 2.5 x 2.0 x 1.0 mm in size and 0.8 m high. Both versions cover a frequency range of 13 to 52 MHz with a supply voltage of 1.7 to 3.5 V.
