Hittite Microwave Corp., a supplier of complete MMIC-based solutions for communication and military markets, has introduced four new high speed logic connectorized modules, which allow designers to address applications requiring data transmission rates up to 50 Gbps, and clock rates as high as 43 GHz. These high speed logic modules are ideal for OC-768 and SDH STM-256 equipment, short, intermediate, and long haul optical transmitter modules, and broadband test and measurement applications.

The HMC-C060 is a D-Type Flip Flop connectorized module that serves as an alternate to Inphi’s 50700DF, while supporting data transmission rates up to 43 Gbps and clock frequencies as high as 43 GHz. The HMC-C060 supports both positive and negative edge triggering. Inputs to the device are terminated with 50 Ohms to ground, and may be either AC or DC coupled. The differential outputs may be either AC or DC coupled. Propagation delay is typically 200 ps, while rise and fall times are less than 10 ps. The HMC-C060 operates from a -3.3 V DC supply, exhibits only 2 ps of deterministic jitter and consumes only 580 mW.

The HMC-C061 is a double edge triggered D-Type Flip Flop connectorized module that serves as an alternate to Inphi’s 50705DT, while supporting data transmission rates up to 50 Gbps. The device operates at half the sampling frequency of the applied data rate with a maximum possible clock rate of 25 GHz for a 50 Gbps input data rate. During normal operation, data is transferred to the outputs on both the positive and the negative edges of the clock. All inputs to the HMC-C061 are terminated with 50 Ohms to ground, and may be either AC or DC coupled. The differential outputs may be either AC or DC coupled. Propagation delay is typically 200 ps, while rise and fall times are less than 10 ps. The HMC-C061 operates from a -3.3 V DC supply, exhibits only 1.5 ps of deterministic jitter and consumes only 690 mW.

The HMC-C064 is a XOR/XNOR connectorized module that serves as an alternate to Inphi’s 50711XR, while supporting data transmission rates up to 50 Gbps. The device operates at half the sampling frequency of the applied data rate with a maximum possible clock rate of 25 GHz for a 50 Gbps input data rate. All inputs to the HMC-C064 are terminated with 50 Ohms to ground, and may be either AC or DC coupled. The differential outputs may be either AC or DC coupled. Propagation delay is typically 230 ps, while rise and fall times are less than 10 ps. The HMC-C064 operates from a -3.3 V DC supply, exhibits only 2 ps of deterministic jitter and consumes only 550 mW.

The HMC-C065 connectorized module may be configured to provide AND, NAND, OR or NOR logic functions while serving as an alternate to Inphi’s 50713OR. The HMC-C065 supports data transmission rates up to 50 Gbps, with a maximum clock rate of 25 GHz. All inputs to the HMC-C065 are terminated with 50 Ohms to ground, and may be either AC or DC coupled. The differential outputs may be either AC or DC coupled. Propagation delay is typically 230 ps, while rise and fall times are less than 10 ps. The HMC-C065 operates from a -3.3 V DC supply, exhibits only 2 ps of deterministic jitter and consumes only 560 mW.

The HMC-C060, HMC-C061, HMC-C064 and the HMC-C065 are specified for operation from -40 to +70ºC and are housed in miniature hermetically sealed modules with 1.85 mm connectors. These modules are available from stock and can be ordered on-line. Released data sheets are available on-line at www.hittite.com.
