Hittite Microwave Corp., a supplier of complete MMIC-based solutions for communication and military markets, has introduced two new GaAs MMIC SMT low noise amplifier and driver amplifier products, which allow designers to address point-to-point microwave radio, military, space, VSAT, and test instrumentation applications from 14 to 40 GHz.

The HMC504LC4B is a GaAs MMIC low noise wideband amplifier housed in a leadless 4x4 mm ceramic surface-mount package. The amplifier operates between 14 and 27 GHz, providing up to 19 dB of small-signal gain, 2.2 dB noise figure and output IP3 of +26 dBm, while requiring only 90 mA from a +4 V supply. The P1dB output power of up to +17 dBm enables the LNA to function as a LO driver for Hittite’s balanced, I/Q or image reject mixers. The HMC504LC4B also features I/Os that are DC blocked and internally matched to 50 Ohms, making it ideal for high capacity microwave radios or VSAT applications. This versatile LNA is also available in die form as the HMC-ALH476.

The HMC635LC4 is a GaAs PHEMT MMIC driver amplifier die that operates between 18 and 40 GHz. The amplifier provides 18.5 dB of gain, +27 dBm output IP3 and +22 dBm of output power at 1 dB gain compression, while requiring only 280 mA from a +5 V supply. Ideal as a driver amplifier for microwave radio applications, or as an LO driver for mixers operating between 18 and 40 GHz, the HMC635LC4 is capable of providing up to +23.5 dBm of saturated output power at 15% PAE. The amplifier's I/Os are DC blocked and internally matched to 50 Ohms making it ideal for integration into Multi-Chip-Modules (MCM).

Samples and evaluation PC boards for all SMT packaged products are available from stock and can be ordered via the company's e-commerce site or via direct purchase order.
