Attendees of the International Microwave Symposium (IMS) will be able to participate in 30 workshops during Microwave Week. There are 11 RFIC workshops, three joint IMS/RFIC workshops, 15 IMS workshops and one joint IMS/ARFTG workshop. The workshops cover a broad range of topics from power amps to CAD optimization and digital receivers to vehicular radars. To ensure a quality experience for all participants, IMS2009 organizers are encouraging a high level of attendee/speaker interaction in the workshops. Full descriptions of all of the workshops, as well as workshop speaker abstracts can be found on the IMS Web site. IMS2009 will be held June 7-12 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center in Boston, MA.
“Over the years, many IMS attendees have stated that the most productive part of Microwave Week was the workshops,” said Gregory Lyons, MIT Lincoln Laboratory and Chair of the IMS 2009 Workshop Committee. “If you are currently changing your area of specialization or need a refresh on state-of-the-art in a particular area, you should consider attending a workshop at IMS 2009 in Boston. Those local to Boston can even consider registering just for workshops and short courses and will also be able to attend the exhibition.”
This year, a few workshops were scheduled to help participants maximize their time at Microwave Week by grouping workshops around related session topics. For example, those interested in RF MEMs could participate in the RF MEMS Testing, Reliability and Power Handling half-day workshop on Wednesday, June 10, and the Emerging Applications of RF-MEMS full-day workshop on Friday, June 12 and still attend the RF MEMs related sessions scheduled for Thursday, June 11.
For attendees interested in focusing on instrumentation, the Advanced Measurement Techniques, Adapted for Different Memory Effects half-day workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, June 10, making it convenient to also attend the IMS 2009 Instrumentation session on Thursday as well as the ARFTG Conference (Automated RF Test Group) on Friday, June 12. Attendees interested in bio-medical applications will be interested in the RF Design Components of Magnetic Resonance Scanners half-day workshop on Wednesday, June 10, the day before the bio-medical IMS technical sessions scheduled for Thursday, June 11.
