On 14 November 4RF Communications announced the establishment of a wholly owned subsidiary, 4RF do Brazil, and the opening of new offices in Sao Paulo. The establishment of a subsidiary in the Southern Hemisphere's largest telecommunications market is an important step in the company's global market development, and strengthens its position in the market.

After several difficult years, the Brazilian telecommunications market is now growing significantly and 4RF has found strong demand for its digital microwave radio transmission and interfacing solutions. The rapid expansion of the mobile subscriber base, and regulatory requirements for operators to expand their networks into remote areas, is creating new business opportunities.

"I am confident that the establishment of the local subsidiary will enable us to compete successfully in what is already a hotly contested market," said Grant Dow, 4RF Communications CEO. "It will help us to develop closer relationships with customers, and assist them to grow their businesses. Industries such as electricity generation, mining, and oil and gas, are running at full capacity, driving companies to replace existing radio networks, and invest in new technologies."
