Strategy Analytics, a global research and consulting firm, has released its projections for the enterprise market in 2008, and it projects rapid growth in both so-called smart phones and GPS handsets as enterprise-caliber location-based service (LBS) solutions. “Wireless Enterprise Strategies: 2008 Market Outlook” notes that UMA and Call Redirect will dominate the business FMC market, while mobile device management solutions will grow strongly as dual-mode smart phone sales grow to 66 million.

“2008 will see significant traction on MDM as smart phones surge and GPS handsets become more closely aligned with Enterprise LBS solutions and begin to resonate with enterprise customers,” said Andrew Brown, senior analyst, Wireless Enterprise Strategies. “Embedded modules will gain a foothold in business as a result of flat rate data plans while USB modems will continue to grow dramatically.”

David Kerr, Vice President of the Global Wireless Practice at Strategy Analytics, added: “Enterprise mobility will continue to be a critical profit center. In 2008, mobile e-mail and line of business applications will post strong growth as the ranks of mobile workers continue to surge and businesses seek enhanced security and access controls to their critical human and capital assets.”
