In order to enhance its competitive edge and future prospects, Sivers IMA AB has signed an agreement with the Gigahertz Centre, a microwave competence centre at Chalmers University, Gothenburg, Sweden.

The centre is a joint venture between the university, the microwave industry and Vinnova, the Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems. Its aim is to create a platform for advanced microwave research that can be shared between all of the participants.

The centre’s mission is to bring scientific advances aimed at future wireless communication and sensor technologies to industrial exploitation as quickly as possible, with research being defined by industrial needs. As a partner, Sivers IMA will have access to new voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) technology, with extremely good phase noise, based on MMIC technology.

Significantly, one of the key projects being undertaken at the Gigahertz Centre is devoted to research on microwave oscillators, which is directly in line with the company’s efforts to be one of the most competent and unique suppliers of high performance microwave VCOs.

Also, in the scope of the competence centre, Sivers IMA will have access to more than 50 world leading scientists in the microwave and millimetre-wave field, allied to one of the most advanced laboratories for microelectronics and microwave research in Europe.
