Endwave Corp., a leading provider of high frequency RF modules for telecommunications networks, defense electronics and homeland security systems, announced the receipt of a new development contract from a major wireless telecommunications OEM. Terms were not disclosed.

.

Endwave will design advanced transmit-receive modules covering various licensed frequency bands for communication links operating at data rates from 6 Mb/second to 600 Mb/second. Endwave's RF subsystems will provide key enabling technology for an advanced radio architecture allowing operators to provide scalable transmission capacity based on a common software upgradeable platform that spans PDH, SDH and IP-based radio applications.

With ever-increasing voice and data capacity needed for next-generation mobile networks, this is driving an expansion in the mobile core network relying on point-to-point communication links that provide a scalable transmission capacity for operators -- thereby reducing the life-cycle costs of their equipment.

"With backhaul data rates essentially doubling every year, the demand for higher data-rate microwave radios at key aggregate points are on the rise," said Ed Keible, Endwave's chief executive officer and president.

"Endwave's broad product portfolio and high volume manufacturing expertise make us the ideal subsystem partner for OEMs looking to roll out these advanced software upgradeable microwave radio platforms."
