M/A-COM, a business unit of Tyco Electronics and a provider of wireless radio frequency (RF), microwave and millimeter-wave components, announced the MAAP-007649-000100, a two-watt power amplifier for the 800 to 1000 MHz frequency band. The MAAP-007649-000100 design displays optimum performance for RFID reader applications, with greater than 1 W dense reader mode (DRM) spectral mask linearity and a flat gain response.

“With the introduction of the MAAP-007649-000100 two-watt power amplifier, we have dramatically enhanced the quality of our company’s HBT MMIC special offerings,” said Tim Galla, product manager, M/A-COM. “The new power amplifier is designed on a high breakdown voltage GaAs HBT process, meeting the same ruggedness requirements as GSM handsets, further enhancing the reliability of M/A-COM’s HBT broadband power amplifier offerings.”

Typical performance of the MAAP-007649-000100 at 900 MHz is 19 dB gain, 34 dBm P1dB and 49 dBm output IP3. The device also features good adjacent channel power ratio (ACPR) linearity performance for cellular infrastructure standards. The amplifier requires a single +7.5 VDC supply, in addition to a +4.5 V reference pin for power down and power control capability. The MAAP-007649-000100 is RoHS compliant and available in 4 mm 16-lead PQFN surface-mount packaging.

M/A-COM’s MAAP-007649-000100 is available from stock and is priced at $4.94 in quantities of 10,000.
