RF Micro Devices Inc. (RFMD), a global leader in the design and manufacture of high performance radio systems and solutions for applications that drive mobile communications, announced that it has commenced volume production shipments of its POLARIS™ 2 Total Radio Module for EDGE for GSM/GPRS/EDGE handsets to Amoi Electronics Co. Ltd., a leading handset manufacturer in China. The POLARIS 2 Radio Module for EDGE will be used in several models across Amoi's product portfolio, including devices running Windows Mobile™ software that target the growing worldwide market for smartphones.
