Trendsmedia announced that WiMAX World, the world’s largest tradeshow for the wireless/mobile broadband and WiMAX industry, exceeded all attendee and exhibitor expectations. WiMAX World has grown from 600 attendees and 14 exhibitors in 2004, making it one of the fastest growing technology tradeshows in the world.
WiMAX World ran from October 10-12 at the Boston World Trade Center, Boston, MA. The Mayor of Boston, Tom Menino, highlighted the opening of the main conference program by sharing his vision for Boston’s plans to deploy a city-wide wireless, municipal broadband initiative.
Business executives from Sprint, Intel, Motorola, Clearwire and the WiMAX Forum highlighted the most comprehensive seminar and conference program ever assembled on WiMAX. “This year’s WiMAX World Conference and Expo show made it very clear that the wireless broadband and WiMAX industry is healthy and growing strong,” said Eliot Weinman, president, Trendsmedia and conference co-chair. “The 140+ WiMAX World exhibitors represented here continue to innovate and develop new and exciting products in the areas of standard based 802.16 and personal broadband devices, and we expect that in 2007 we will witness continued significant growth in our events in China, Europe and the US.”
The second annual “Best of WiMAX World” awards, sponsored by xchange magazine, were announced during the opening address on Wednesday. The awards recognized leaders in the development and deployment of WiMAX technologies. The winners were selected by an independent judging panel, composed of representatives from CWLab, Farpoint Group, Forward Concepts, Maravedis, Rethink Research and the Yankee Group.
