Laird Connectivity has developed a 2.4 GHz WLAN and Bluetooth module for IoT and industrial applications, such as security and building automation, IoT/M2M connectivity and smart gateways. With broad country certifications, package options, an industrial temperature rating and software tools, the Sterling-EWB’s flexibility makes it easy to gather data from sensors and wirelessly send it to the cloud.
Using the latest-generation Cypress 4343 W Wi-Fi/Bluetooth radio and an STMicroelectronics STM32F412 Cortex M4 MCU, the Sterling-EWB offers power-conscious battery management for remote battery powered devices. The onboard STM32F412 microcontroller complies with SPI, QSPI, USART, PCM, ADC, I2C, I2S, GPIO and JTAG sensor interfaces.
The Sterling-EWB is fully compatible with Cypress’s WICED software development kit (SDK), a comprehensive software package providing a suite of easy-to-use tools that simplify complex application designs. Coupled with Laird Connectivity’s support, developers can get IoT designs from concept to market quickly.
The Sterling-EWB comes in three package styles: SIP module, PCB module with onboard chip antenna or PCB module with u.FL connector. To simplify both the host PCB design and manufacturing process, the module with chip antenna or module with RF connector are recommended. The module with the chip antenna offers greater resistance to de-tuning than the typical trace or chip antenna — and in a smaller package.
“The Sterling-EWB modules allow customers to confidently deploy an intelligent IoT solution with WLAN and Bluetooth technologies. The advanced wireless modules eliminate design complexity, simplify integration and reduce end-user manufacturing cost.” — Jonathan Kaye, product director for Laird Connectivity
