MACOM announced a surface-mount packaged SPDT switch for millimeter wave applications from 26 to 40 GHz. The MASW-011098 is fabricated using MACOM's patented AlGaAs process and achieves 1.17 dB insertion loss and 38 dB isolation with 7 W power handling. Switch bias can be adjusted to optimize performance. The laminate package measures 5 x 5 mm.

The MASW-011098 was developed to be used as a T/R switch in 5G demonstration systems operating at 28, 37 and 39 GHz. The low insertion loss improves link margin with sufficient power handling for typical system transmit power.

MACOM's product portfolio supports wireless infrastructure applications from the sub-6 GHz cellular bands to millimeter wave point-to-point radio. The company is developing GaN on Si power transistors for the base station market and applying its active array tile technology to 5G.

MACOM is exhibiting at Mobile World Congress in Hall 8.1, Room CC8.15 from February 27 through March 2, 2017.
