The device has been optimized by careful selection of the bipolar transistor and varactor diode for low phase noise and highly linear tuning characteristics. The low profile surface-mount package provides for electrical shielding, ease of assembly and repeatable performance. The unit operates over a temperature range of –20° to +70°C. The frequency range is between 1770 and 1850 MHz with an RF output power of –3 dBm (min) and +3 dBm (max). Tuning voltage is 0.5 to 4.5 V DC.
M/A-COM Ltd., an AMP company,
The MAXO series digitally assisted compensation precision oscillator offers low power consumption of less than 15 mA at 5 V. Stability of 0.33 ppm is achieved over an operating temperature of 0° to +70°C. Long-term aging is targeted at less than 3 ppm for 10 years. The oscillator is packaged in a 14-pin compatible format with a TTL/CMOS-compatible output and is designed for applications requiring a precision reference oscillator. A 3.3 V version also is available.

Surface-mount Frequency Synthesizer
The model PSA-2100 surface-mount frequency synthesizer operates from a 3 or 5 V supply with a low power consumption of 25 mA at 3 V, and a phase noise of –86 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz and –112 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz. The synthesizer operates over a frequency range of 2000 to 2200 MHz with an adjustable step size of 1000 kHz. Spurious suppression is better than –65 dBc and second harmonic suppression is better than –20 dBc.
Princeton Electronic Systems Inc. (PES),
The model RTXO-119 surface-mount temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) features high stability over both time and temperature. The unit operates from 12.80 to 20.00 MHz with an output frequency specified to remain within +/-2.5 ppm over an operating temperature range from –30° to +75°C. Aging is held to better than +/-1 ppm per year, and a +/-5 ppm trimmer adjustment is provided on the top side of the surface-mount package. The surface-mount footprint measures 0.339" x 0.449" x 0.150". The TCXO is powered by a single supply (+3 or +5 V DC) and consumes less than 2 mA. Price: $9 each in original equipment manufacturer quantities (1000). Delivery: 10 weeks (ARO).

Point-to-point Ku-band Synthesizers
The MTS-1500 series permanent magnet, YIG-based frequency synthesizers are designed to meet the demands of high data rate, complex modulation-based point-to-point and point-to-multipoint systems. The units offer noise reduction for 16-, 64-, 128- and 256-quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) schemes and provide greater spectral efficiency and higher data rates. With fundamental frequency coverage from 4 to 12 GHz in 1 GHz bandwidths, designers can move from frequency-shift keying to quadrature phase-shift keying (QPSK) and up to QAM modulation schemes using a single, high quality source. The synthesizers combine low noise, broadband frequency coverage and power-efficient performance in a small package. Price: $400 to $700, depending on custom modification and quantity.

1930 - 1990 MHz VCO
The model V624ME01 VCO is designed for use in the PCS base station market at frequencies between 1930 to 1990 MHz. The VCO features 1.5 to 8 V DC of control voltage and an average tuning sensitivity of 20 MHz/V. The oscillator provides a signal of –107 dBc/Hz (typ) at 10 kHz from the carrier while attenuating the second harmonic to better than –10 dBc. The unit pulls less than 5 MHz from a 14 dB return loss (any phase) and pushes less than 2 MHz/V within a five percent change of the nominal supply voltage. The oscillator features a 1.1:1 linearity over frequency and temperature and operates off of an 8 V DC bias while drawing only 21 mA (typ). The VCO provides 5 +/-3 dBm of output power into a 50 W load and can handle any outdoor environment by operating over the commercial temperature range of –10° to +85°C. Price: $15 each (1000).
