DC/DC Converters
The models ADDC02803SC and ADDC02805SA converters power digital or low voltage analog ICs from a 28 V DC power source. The ADDC02803SC model provides a 3.3 V, 66 W output at 20 A and the ADDC02805SA model provides a 5 V, 100 W output at 20 A. To achieve their performance level, the converters employ a flyback topology with dual-interleaved power trains operating 180° out of phase. Each power train switches at 500 kHz, producing a 1 MHz fixed switching frequency as observed from the converter’s input and output. The flyback topology stores energy in an inductor during one-half of the switching cycle, then transfers it to the output filter during the other half. The control circuit maintains a nearly constant output current even as output voltage drops quickly from VO (nom) to V SC during a short circuit. Remote sensing, which can attach at the load, can adjust for voltage drops of as much as 0.25 V DC between the converter and the load, which maintains accurate voltage levels under a variety of power delivery scenarios. Size: 1.50" x 2.75" x 0.39". Price: $775 (100) (industrial-grade version); $1185 (100) (ruggedized industrial-grade versions; $1395 (100) (SMT version).
