dB Control, an international defense electronics manufacturer, is introducing a Ka-band traveling wave tube (TWT) amplifier for ground and mobile radar applications. Featuring an outdoor hub-mount configuration, the dB-3709i operates in the 34.5 to 35.5 GHz frequency range and provides 700 Watts minimum peak output power at a duty cycle of up to ten percent. The TWT amplifier is suitable for radar, test and measurement, antenna patterns and radar cross-section measurements. It is specifically designed for reliable performance in extremely harsh environments and for easy field maintenance.

“High-frequency TWT amplifiers like the dB-3709i allow greater range because they feature higher power used in a sophisticated radar systems. And that's always in demand for defense and commercial applications,” said dB Control COO Gary Spaulding.

The dB-3709i is encased in an environmentally-sealed package to ensure reliable performance even in the harshest environments. The TWTA is designed for outdoor and antenna pedestal-mounted applications, and uses integral forced-air cooling for thermal management. Due to the modularity of the company’s designs and the environmental testing process, thousands of dB Control TWTAs are performing reliably in the field. Defense contractors and original equipment manufacturers may contact Vice President of Business Development Steve Walley for information about customization.

In addition to holding several certifications that help ensure reliability, dB Control is ISO 9001:2008 certified and conducts first-article inspection in accordance with AS 9102. A new virtual tour of the company’s 52,100-square-foot facilities can be viewed at www.dBControl.com.
