Elektrobit is developing an EB Tactical LTE Access Point solution (Long Term Evolution, 4G) alongside its tactical communications products and systems to enable the utilization of regular terminals designed for civilian use in military purposes. A private LTE base station solution capable for use in the field and integrated in a small size together with EPC (Evolved Packet Core) software optimized for tactical use lie at the core of the solution. These serve to establish a wireless broadband access point to cover data transfer and a call service within a specific area of the battlefield.

The excellent data transfer capacity offered by LTE technology, its integration with IP networks according to international standards and the increased availability of low-cost terminals, such as smartphones and tablets, enable broadband data transfer and the import of VoIP (voice over IP) services in a wireless, large-scale and cost-efficient way for the army using the EB Tactical LTE Access Point solution. This solution is highly useful for detachments fighting at the front line, as well as troops carrying out various maintenance, medical and logistics duties.

EB has published a white paper, covering the technical properties of LTE technology in tactical communications and its new opportunities in military data transmission applications. EB will present the EB Tactical LTE Access Point solution for the first time at the Eurosatory exhibition in Paris, France, on June 16–20, at stand Hall 6-D321.
